In Her Garden She Cries, 24" X 24", Acrylic on Canvas
This crying garden composition began from a trip to West Virginia. The day was intermittently cloudy and sunny, with steely gray skies and illuminated trees. I initially planned to depict the simple color composition of the landscape that inspired me, but as the painting went on, I began to feel myself expressing sad feelings. I am beginning to understand the Garden series as an expression of my dichotomous world view. There is much to be sad about among the beauty that also exists.

There's no telling exactly why I am creating these sad yet beautiful paintings. In this first painting of the series, I started painting with absolutely no thoughts on what was going to happen: completely intuitively and automatic.
There is a lot of sadness in the air, but there is also beauty. Our world is a dichotomy, full of ironies and contradictions. Nothing is how it seems on the surface.
In Her Garden She Cries 2
This second in the series was inspired by a wilted bouquet of roses. They were so beautiful in their decandant decay.
