First three sketches. Just getting the feel of the composition. I haven't figured out how to add comments to this page. Might have to change some things around. You can email me!
I like the top two better, where the tree section goes straight across... You?
This is actually much larger 15" X 30" on paper. I want to keep it more organized, and some of the colors got muddled. Stay tuned. But what do you think of it?
Color Study #1. Just getting the feel of things. I think I can do a lot with warm and cool greens (ie. emerald vs blue-green). Do you want a overall lighter palette though? More similar to Winter is Coming? This is a very small sketch (5" x 10")
Color Study #2
Color Study #3
Lindsay, let me know about the colors. There are lots of different options. I think I'll do at least one more color study, to try a different angle, and then you can tell me what your favorite is, and how abstract you want it.:-)
Lindsay, I'm starting to loosen up. Getting the mountains in before concentrating more on the trees. which will pull the whole thing together. Still more to go, but thought you would like to see the direction it is taking.
Remember, going to lighten up some areas, and add variations of color and tone. :-) One thought I had was to make the trees lighter and not so bright. It would be a softer painting. But I know you loved the trees, so.....let me know if you think that is a good idea. I don't want the painting to overwhelm your living room.
Haha, don't be alarmed. I'm going to tone down the green. Just This is the loosening up stage, and I'm trying to get the expressive feel that is part of my style. More work to do! Getting to know pine trees has been interesting. Have some more ideas....
getting closer..... I have a lot of little marks, and no navy-medium blue, which is in your rug. I want to add some large swaths of color and add some of that blue.--Have updated this several times today. More adjustments to make.
