The Edinburg Gap is omnipresent where ever you go in Shenandoah County, Virginia. From the two mountain ranges that bind us, the Gap provides passage to the east towards Washington, DC. A drive through the Edinburg Gap is a thrilling experience, rewards you with views of a mountain stream, and guides you to the Narrow Passage Valley and Passage Creek, a wonder of it's own.
With this painting, I was constantly moving between abstraction, expression, and the depiction of the mountains, land, and sky. I am very pleased with the resulting blend of abstract with representational qualities of "Edinburg Gap".
