July 13, 2019 - June 20, 2020: GHOSTS OF A FORGOTTEN LANDSCAPE: PAINTINGS BY SALLY VEACH
Opening reception July 13, 6-8 pm. Please come help celebrate!
I am so honored that my work will be residing in this gorgeous museum for a year! Below is from the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley’s website:
“Opening on July 13, this exhibition presents contemporary landscape paintings by Shenandoah County artist Sally Veach (b. 1962). On view in the MSV Shenandoah Valley Gallery through June 21, 2020, Ghosts of a Forgotten Landscape: Paintings by Sally Veach will include several works on first time public display.
The historic barns of the Valley landscape figure heavily in Sally Veach’s paintings. She has devoted recent years to creating a series of works—Barns of Shenandoah—depicting barns, exploring their meaning, and representing barns as an iconic link between the natural and material worlds. Paintings in the Barns of Shenandoah series feature recurring themes, including the power of nature, the disappearance of barns, and the spirits of ancestors. Veach’s gestural brushwork and dramatic palette express her reverence for the beauty of her surroundings, while venting frustration and concern over change, eventually finding acceptance and reconciliation between nature and humanity.
Harvest Ghost, a 2018 painting by Sally Veach, was recently acquired by the MSV for its contemporary art collection. The painting is currently on view in the MSV exhibition Vital Force.”

August 3 - September 11, 2018: ALMOST HEAVEN: Landscapes by Sally Veach
Opening Reception Saturday, August 11, 4-6 PM. A whole new body of work was created this summer, and it will be on display at the Lost River Trading Post in Wardensville, WV. Most of these paintings are from my 2018 Landscape Series, plus some of the more recent Barns of Shenandoah canvases. The "Trading Post" is an oasis of delight among the unbelievably beautiful landscape of West Virginia's Potamac Highlands and Valley. A combination of espresso cafe, wine shop and craft beer shop, artisan and cabin decor store pairs well with their attached Grasshopper Gallery, where my work will be exhibited. I am delighted to show my new landscapes and barn paintings at one of my favorite places, and in the middle of so much of the landscape that inspires me! If you take the inspiring drive out to visit the show, you won't regret it! Travel a little further down Corridor H (Rt. 48) and you will be amazed and refreshed by the gorgeous landscape. I hope you like the paintings, too! ;-) As always, a portion of my proceeds from Barns paintings will be donated to the Shenandoah County Historical Society's budding barn preservation program.
